This is the first part in a
5 Part Series that explains the difference
between DubLi and eBay and Amazon. In this
section, we will talk about the online shopping
business models themselves. What drives
these e-commerce sites? What’s the
business model? How does DubLi, eBay and
Amazon make money? Why should online shoppers
purchase from these sites? What deals and
discounts can customers get? What’s
ultimately the difference between DubLi
and eBay and Amazon? The first answer is
simple: the major difference between DubLi
and eBay is that eBay is an online auction
site or auction house. So what’s the
major difference between DubLi and Amazon?
Amazon is an online store. So many of you
may be asking the question, what is DubLi
then? DubLi is the fastest growing online
shopping site in the world and there are
two distinct business models that will be
explained further below.
The Difference
Between DubLi and eBay Auctions
As mentioned above, DubLi’s business
model is very simple and is based upon two
systems. The first system will be used to
compare the difference between DubLi and
eBay. This business model is called the
DubLi Reverse Auction. When most online
shoppers thinking about an ‘auction’
the first company or site that comes to
mind is eBay. Of course it does! eBay was
the pioneer of the online shopping auction.
By setting up a system and portal for individuals
and companies to sell their sought after
merchandise and items (used or new), eBay
essentially created the first ever efficient,
secure and fun way to bid at an auction.
This is where the major difference between
DubLi and eBay auctions lie. The eBay auction
is called an ‘upward auction’
or ‘traditional auction’. The
starting price of the item is indicated
by the seller, after which interested parties
can make their bids, thereby pushing up
the value and price of the merchandise.
Again, the eBay auction goes to the person
who bids the most for a particular item
within the timeframe of the traditional
online auction. The difference between DubLi
and eBay auction business models is that
the DubLi system is called a ‘reverse
auction’. Just like eBay pioneered
the system to easily auction online, DubLi
Reverse Auction is now forever changing
the way people shop. The difference between
DubLi Reverse Auction and the eBay Auction
is that prices actually go down! Basically,
DubLi customers purchase proprietary credits
(80 cents per credit) and start bidding
on items through the reverse auction portals.
Each time someone bids on an item, the price
goes down 25 cents and the price is shown
(it is normally hidden until you make a
bid). The shopper has a choice of purchasing
the item at that price at that time, or
waiting it out and bidding again later.
The other difference between DubLi and eBay
auctions is that DubLi has also pioneered
the Unique Bid reverse auction where customers
bid on an item and the lowest unique bid
during the auction timeframe gets it, regardless
of how low the price may be. Again, the
difference between DubLi and eBay auctions
is that DubLi is a reverse auction where
prices go down while eBay is a traditional
auction where prices go up. DubLi rewards
customers with the lowest bid while eBay
sellers sell to the customers that bid the
highest.

The Difference Between
DubLi and Amazon Online Stores
As we said before, DubLi has two business
models that work congruently to provide
the best possible online shopping experience
out there. The first is the DubLi Reverse
Auction that rivals the eBay auction, but
introduces a new concept where prices go
down and the lowest bid wins. The other
major difference between DubLi and Amazon
online stores is how the shopping mall is
setup. DubLi Shopping Mall is the second
business model for this growing internet
e-commerce site. Here, customers purchase
brand name products and merchandise through
DubLi Shopping Mall’s merchants. You’ve
heard of most of these retailers that include
Apple, DELL, JEEP etc. The difference between
DubLi and Amazon Online Stores is firstly,
the selection. Amazon seems to stock only
the most sought after products whereas DubLi
has a growing selection of merchants. By
rapidly expanding their retailer base, DubLi
now has hundreds of thousands of retailers
selling products through their system. But
most importantly, the major difference between
DubLi and Amazon and for the most part the
difference between DubLi and eBay is that
they have created an online community based
on DubLi Rewards Points. Each time you purchase
something through the DubLi Shopping Mall,
you earn Reward Points. These reward points
can be used towards cash cards, gift cards
and other purchases online or anywhere else
(doesn’t have to be DubLi), and the
Reward Points earned are determined by each
individual retailer or merchant (not controlled
by DubLi but by actual retailers). This
is a major difference between DubLi and
Amazon Online Stores, and something that
eBay does not have either. Customer loyalty
is a key to expanding DubLi globally, and
this difference is huge.
The Difference Between
DubLi and eBay Products
Remember that most of the eBay products
sold online are through small businesses
and individuals and they include both used
and new merchandise. The difference between
DubLi and eBay products is that the DubLi
Shopping Mall and Reverse Auctions only
sell NEW items and merchandise straight
from their retailers. They have never been
owned by any individual or company and are
therefore completely new. This is again
a major difference between DubLi and eBay
products, where customers can rest assured
that the items that they buy online through
DubLi.com are the real thing and never been
used.
The Summary
DubLi is an online shopping mall in addition
to a reverse auction portal site. eBay is
a traditional online auction site. Amazon
is just a shopping mall. DubLi provides
Reward Points for every purchase that can
be cashed in for many great things in their
Rewards Mall, including cash. The difference
between DubLi, eBay and Amazon is that neither
of the other two provide Rewards Programs.
Last but not least, DubLi and Amazon items
(for the most part) are brand new. eBay
is either used or new. Another difference
between DubLi and eBay is that the lowest
bid and price wins versus the highest bid.
